Anchor for securing soft tissue to bone or other soft tissue - has one or more anchor holes distributed around head of anchor, each hole being inclined to longitudinal axis of anchor to allow attachment of sutures
The anchor comprises a self tapping screw (10) having a long axis (22) and a head (11) at one end of the long axis. A drive socket (12) is used to accommodate a securing or drive tool. There are provided anchor holes (36) through the head. The anchor holes have an upper aperture (34) and a lower aperture (32). The anchor holes are oriented to cause a line (48) through the centre of the anchor hole to intersect an extension of the long axis beyond the head, forming an angle (A2). A shoulder (50) may be displaced about the screw (10) near the head to provide a visual and tactile reference for maintaining proper head height above the bone.
