A deep mining skid lifting jack assembly for a longwall coal face screen is made of box-frame welded steel construction. When not in use, the frame folds down into a box-shaped void within the skid. The box has a pivot bolt and may be pushed downwards by a hydraulic cylinder, thereby raising the skid. The lifting box girder is raised by just enough to effect the movement without admitting crushed coal to the box.
