Arrangement for cleaning a main pipeline using a pig (4) comprises a pig transfer ball valve (V1) arranged in a bypass line (5.1, 5.2) and having a ball (6) with a pocket hole (6.1) receiving the pig. The ball valve rotates between a pig-receiving position in which the pocket hole opening faces the outlet section (1.1) of the main pipeline and a pig-discharging position in which the opening faces the inlet section (1.2) of the main pipeline. Preferred Features: Sensors (M1, M4) are arranged at the pig transfer ball valve for determining the position of the ball and/or the presence of the pig.
