The method involves a revolution rate sensor producing an asymmetrical revolution rate signal (24) corresponding to the direction of rotation, differentiating the revolution rate signal and concluding that the rotation is on one or other direction using a determination of the result exceeding or being less than trigger levels after comparing the differentiated signal with the trigger levels. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) an arrangement for implementing the inventive method.
