Contactless current sensor has a field direction changing coil that is energized prior to a current measurement so that remanence effects are negated and accurate low-current measurements can be made
Contactless current measurement arrangement comprises a magnetic field concentrator (2) of high magnetic permeability material and a magnetic field sensor (3) placed in a gap in the concentrator. A coil (8) is arranged around the flux concentrator and configured such that when energized the magnetic field in the concentrator is changed to a direction orthogonal to that in which the field sensor is insensitive. An Independent claim is made for a method for contactless current measurement in which a magnetic field concentrator is magnetized in a direction orthogonal to that in which a magnetic field sensor is sensitive and then a current measurement is carried out.
