Rescue system for people in high-rise buildings comprises abseil rescue rope between rescue unit with closed room and platform on building down to movable rope tensioner on ground
The rescue system comprises one or more rescue units each mounted at a selected storey (1) of the building and consisting on the building side of a room accessible from inside and with an outside wall to contain the means for holding an end of a rescue rope (19). The outside wall has a rescue platform (3) which can be accessed from inside. The rescue unit has on the ground side a cable tensioner (28) for holding the other end of the rescue rope. The tensioner is movable along the ground from a position close to the building where the rope hangs vertically down from its connection on the outside wall into a position away from the building where the rope is guided by its other end to a landing point for the rescued person.
