A system for optically detecting binding (and also determining the strength of binding under particular conditions) between biological tests material (I) and materials (II) on a biochip in a liquid, is new. A system for optically detecting binding (and also determining the strength of binding under particular conditions) between biological tests material (I) and materials (II) on a biochip in a liquid, comprises: (a) the dot formed by hybridization binding between (I) and (II) (after washing) is dissolved from the biochip; and (b) the dissolved material contained in the liquid is determined (at a location close to but spatially separated from the preparation) by inducing luminescence with UV light and measuring the luminescence.
