PURPOSE: Provided are a stem bark extract of Acanthopanax senticosus containing liriodendrin having anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive activity as well as syringaresinol and a composition containing the same, thereby effectively preventing and treating painful diseases and inflammatory diseases. CONSTITUTION: A stem bark extract of Acanthopanax senticosus is effective for prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases, and it is obtained by using a solvent selected from water, methanol, butanol or their mixture. A composition for prevention and treatment of inflammatory diseases is characterized by containing 0.1-20 wt.% of the extract as an active ingredient, and its dosage is 5-500mg/kg/day.
