PURPOSE: A method for reducing distortions within a nonlinear channel is provided to apply PMD(Polarization Mode Dispersion) predistortions to optical signals in order to generate two copy signals, and to transmit the copy signals through an optical fiber, thereby reducing nonlinear distortions within a channel given to the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: A '+15dBm' signal transmitted from an RZ transmitter(110) is inputted to a transmission system(100). The inputted signal is first amplified by an amplifier(120), and is propagated through the first PMD emulator(170-1). The first PMD emulator(170-1) separates the signal into two orthogonal polarization components. The separated signal is propagated through a DCF(Dispersion Compensation Fiber)(130). The propagated signal is propagated through the second PMD emulator(170-2). A chromatic dispersion of the DCF(130) is fully compensated by an SSMF(150). The signal is outputted to a receiver.
