A novel and easily distinguishable short day strawberry variety named VENTANA results from cross-breeding selections, coded Cal 93.170 - 606 and Cal 92.35 - 601. Leaf-hearyness is slight, hair density on petioles is medium. Efflorescence situated at the same plane as the foliage is discernible above the latter. Individual plants are characteristically large in size, have erect and open growth form. Individual plants are characteristically large in size, have erect and open growth form. Fruit shapes are pointed, symmetric cones. Fruits have a vivid light-red color. This high yield plant variety produces fruit of good quality and excellent taste. The non-saleable proportion is low. Leaves are flat and have pointed serration, while leaflets are highly concave, and have semi-pointed margins.
