PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove CO in a modified gas. ;SOLUTION: A CO selective oxidation catalyst and a methanation catalyst of CO are prepared by supporting at least either one of Ru, Pt and Rh on a film formed by the anodic oxidation of aluminum. An alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, rare-earth elements, Mn and Zr are added to these catalysts to enhance a CO selective oxidation capacity. Further, Cu, Zn and In are added to suppress the by-production of methane. These catalysts have high heat transfer properties and, by incorporating these catalysts in a plate-fin heat exchange type reactor, the occurrence of a temperature distribution in a reactor can be suppressed to perform CO removal with a small consumption of H2 and high selectivity.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
