PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently purifying a mixture of sericin and water into sericin classified into some molecular weight grades including a high molecular weight grade of around 500,000.;SOLUTION: In the purifying method of sericin, the mixture of sericin with water such as a trailing tube waste liquid is filtered through a filter cloth, and the filtration residue is mixed with ethanol and the like, filtered through a second filter cloth and then dried. The filtrate by the second filter cloth filtration through the second filter cloth is subjected to ultrafiltration, and hydrogen peroxide is added to the retentate to cause sericin in the retentate to gel and subsequently the retentate is filtered and dried. The filtrate by the ultrafiltration and/or the filtrate by the filtration of the gel is subjected to ultrafiltration and subsequently the filtrate is dried.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
