PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edible film improved in film characteristics, such as film strength, moldability, and film stability, and capable of being produced at a low cost, to provide a method for producing the edible film, and to provide a film containing the edible film.;SOLUTION: This edible film containing starch as a main component contains sodium alginate, and further contains calcium ion in an amount of 0.1-0.5 pt.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the sodium alginate. The method for producing the edible film containing the starch as the main component comprises a first process for preparing an aqueous solution of a film-forming material containing the starch and carrageenan, a second process for casting the aqueous solution of the film-forming material on a substrate under a temperature condition of ≥ 60°C, so as to form a liquid film on the substrate, a third process for cooling down the liquid film to a temperature of 40°C or lower, so as to make the carrageenan in the liquid film gelled, and a fourth process for heating/drying the gelled liquid film and removing water in the gelled liquid film, so as to form the film.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
