Measurement of all kinds of precipitation using a rain-meter that detects the sound or precipitation incident on a passive surface and transmits a measurement signal to a central data acquisition unit
Method for measuring precipitation is based on measuring the sound produced by the precipitation as it reaches the ground. The method is based on detection, by a receiving instrument, of sound waves propagating from passive objects exposed to precipitation and placed at a distance from the objects. Measurement signals are then transmitted from the detectors to a central data acquisition unit. The invention also relates to a corresponding device.
