Release method for activating a useful part (7) of a computer program product (5) by processing of a test part (6) of the program product. Accordingly the computer causes an excitation signal to be transmitted by a transmitter. A transponder (12) receives the excitation signal and transmits a release code. The latter is received by a receiver and passed to the computer. The computer uses the code to activate the program part.
