Production of aliphatic polycarbonate polymer e.g. poly(ether-carbonate) polyol, involves ring-opening polymerization of cyclic carbonate in the presence of double metal cyanide catalyst
An aliphatic polycarbonate polymer e.g. poly(ether-carbonate) polyol is produced by producing a polyether polyol by polyaddition of epoxide to starter compound exhibiting active hydrogen atoms in the presence of double metal cyanide (DMC) catalyst, and reacting polyether polyol containing active catalyst with cyclic carbonate under conditions such as ring-opening in the cyclic carbonate occurs. Independent claims are included for: (1) A process for production of a polyol comprising ring opening a cyclic carbonate in the presence of a DMC catalyst. (2) A polyurethane produced by reacting the polyol with an isocyanate.
