PURPOSE: A method of grafting a young plant of watermelon by a two-stage grafting method using simultaneously a pumpkin and a gourd. Therefore, the grafted plant has an excellent suitability for use in soil spread of physiological diseases and soil diseases capable of being generated during cultivation of the watermelon and thus increases crop yield by 164.1 to 169.9% as compared to general grafted plants. CONSTITUTION: To graft a young plant of watermelon, two different rootstocks selected from Cucurbita rootstock, Lagenaria siceraria rootstock and Citrullus fistulosus rootstok are used as a first rootstock(original rootstock) which is connected to each root and a second rootstock(intermediate rootstock) which is connected to a scion respectively. The method of grafting comprises: preparing a scion by cutting out a young plant at an angle of 40 to 75deg.C; preparing a second rootstock by cutting out at an angle of 40 to 75deg.C; joining the cutting surface of the scion and second rootstock and then fixing the joint; and cutting out a first rootstock at an angle equal to the second rootstock, joining with the cutting surface of the second rootstock and then fixing.
