The rotary printing machine has a printing plate (5) which has its front edge clamped to the plate cylinder (1) by a pair of clamping bars (3,4). These bars (3,4) are installed in a longitudinal slot (2) in the periphery of the plate cylinder (1). Tension is applied to the printing plate by rotating the cams (7,7.1,7.2) by means of a handle (9,10). If the printing plate is askew this fault is corrected by first aligning the front edge of the plate by means of the adjusting screws (6,6.1,6.2) which abut against the cams (7,7.1,7.2). After the front edge has been correctly aligned the rear edge is aligned by rotating the second handle (23) which actuates a system of cables and tension springs which brings the rear edge to its required position. USE/ADVANTAGE - An askew printing plate is easily brought into correct alignment on a printing cylinder.
