Method for optimizing the correctness of theoretical predictions of the deformation of a workpiece used in strength and stress calculations associated with the design and testing of new parts for mass production
Method in which for a specific load and one or more test areas (2a-c) on the workpiece surface a theoretical deformation of the test area is calculated, for the same area the actual deformation is optically measured. The two deformation values are compared and if necessary physical parameters used in the theoretical deformation calculation are changed to improve the agreement. An iterative process is followed until agreement of the results is within a threshold value. The process is repeated for each test point. A speckle interferometer can be used to measured the surface deformation.
