The collector has at least one transparent cover plate (2), an absorber (1) to absorb incident solar radiation. The absorber has a channel system (3), whose walls form a turbulent flow. The air flow is distributed in the collector, so that a part flow (12) enters the channel entrance and the remaining flow flows out of the space between the absorber and the cover plate flows over a number small holes (11) distributed over the absorber surface. The air flow (7) through the absorber holes is at least a third of the total air flow (13). The channel walls are made of metal with a high thermal conductivity, such as aluminum or copper. The Reynolds number of the channel flow at the air exit side is larger than 5000. One or more heat insulation layers (5a,5i) are arranged at the back side (3.1) of the air channel system.
