PURPOSE: A device for a multimedia electronic book for the holy Quran is provided to reproduce a desired part selected by the manipulation of a button through a display screen and a speaker by scanning the pages of the real holy Quran, recording the recitation, and storing the scanned data and the recorded sound data in a non-volatile memory. CONSTITUTION: An LCD module(40) displays a present operation mode or the contents of the holy Quran by a page unit by responding to a control signal and the data input. A key input tool(42) includes a plurality of function keys needed to command the playback of the desired part while seeing a table of the contents. The speaker(20) and an earphone jack(18) output the recitation sound by receiving the audio signal. The non-volatile memory(36) stores a diver program, the text image data, the compressed audio data and the index information. An audio decoder(38) converts the compressed audio data into the reproducible audio signal and outputs the audio signal to the speaker and the earphone jack. A CPU(30) displays the contents of the holy Quran and reproduces the recitation sound through the speaker and the earphone jack.
