PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective coat of a metallic member free of cadmium, constituting an effective anode protection from the corrosion in a salt-contg. atmosphere and in an alternating cycle and low in sensitivity to galvanic corrosion. ;SOLUTION: The coat for protecting a metallic member from corrosion in a salt-contg. atmosphere has at least one layer of a tin/zinc alloy contg. 8-35 wt.% zinc. A tin/zinc layer is advantageously provided on the lower layer of a zinc/nickel alloy contg. 10-16 wt.% nickel. The zinc/nickel alloy layer occupies 2/3 of the total thickness of the two alloy layers constituting the coat, and the tin/zinc alloy layer occupies 1/3 of the total thickness. Further, an outer film of a chromate is preferably provided. The coat is applied especially to the protection of the members of a steel aircraft as a substitute for a cadmium coat.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
