Controlling oil production by injecting fluid into well and diverting returning fluid into oil/gas separator whose liquid level and operating pressure are controlled
Equipment controlling a hydrocarbon well injects a scavenging fluid down the pipe string so it can return via the annular space between the pipe string and a liner. An obturator closes off the annular space above the level where fluid re-enters the space from the reservoir. Near the obturator is a gas liquid separator drawing off fluid from the annular space below the obturator. The separator has separate lines, each fitted with a control valve, for drawing off gas and liquid. The liquid level in the separator is kept constant and the pressure in the separator kept above that of the reservoir by regulating the flow of drawn off liquid and gas respectively. An Independent claim is included for the following: (a) Controlling production from a hydrocarbon well as above.
