Cable fault locating device generates spark between contacts of main switch when fault is located to send current through electrode, resistor, pulse capacitor and decoupling and record fault in memory
The contacts (8,9) of a main switch (10) are arranged in an air gap. The inductivity of a toroidal coil (5) due to a faulty location in a cable generates a spark between the contacts which closes the main switch and sends current through an electrode (7) and a resistor (11), discharging a pulse capacitor (12) and reflecting the fault on a decoupling (13), thereby recording the fault in a digital memory.
