The system has a main control unit for controling a motor for driving an elevator cage in a shaft with boarding openings and a second motor for operating the doors. Hazard sensors are associated with boarding entrances along the shaft. An auxiliary controler connected to each sensor for transfer of signals indicating a hazard near the relevant sensor sends the signals to a main controler, which converts them into motor control signals . The system has a main control unit for controling a motor for driving an elevator cage (4) in an elevator shaft (3) with at least two boarding openings for the elevator cage and a second motor for operating the doors. There is a number of hazard sensors (F), each associated with a boarding entrance along the shaft and an auxiliary controler connected to each sensor for transfer of signals indicating a hazard in the area near the relevant sensor. The auxiliary controler sends signals to the main controler, which converts them into control signals for operating the motors (5,8).
