Food or food supplements for domestic or working animals preventing conditions associated with vitamin deficiencies and also containing (especially Australasian) mussel meat or extracts
A food for domestic or working animals and allowing for individual nutritive requirements as well as particular physiological and/or developmental needs (and especially to prevent conditions related to vitamin deficiencies) is a single foodstuff especially for cats and dogs. A food for domestic or working animals and allowing for individual nutritive requirements as well as particular physiological and/or developmental needs (and especially to prevent conditions related to vitamin deficiencies) is a single foodstuff especially for cats and dogs and contains as further additives mixtures of natural products such as vegetables, vegetable oils, fishmeal, meat, bone materials and yeast, as well as 0.1-30 wt.% mussel meat or extracts. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a horse feed in which the additives are a mixture of (by wt.) up to 20% yeast, up to 20% barley, up to 10% maize, up to 20% lucerne, up to 20% linseed extract, up to 5% beet mollasses, up to 30% mussel extract and up to 3% vitamins and minerals; (2) a food or dietetic supplement for dogs, horses and cats in which the additives comprise a mixture of (by wt.) up to 40% malt extract, up to 20% silica, up to 20% herbs, up to 98% chondroitin sulfate, up to 98% mussel extract, up to 98% glucosamine and up to 5% vitamins and minerals; and (3) preparation of such foods and supplements by calculating the required ingredients which are then comminuted to eg 5mm particle size, mixed, tested eg for electrolyte content and, if necessary, adjusted with salt, extruded, cut to size, dried and packaged.
