Heteroglobin characterisation and cloning: a Syrian hamster protein which joins to human immunoglobulin E.The primary objective of this invention is to purify and characterise a new Syrian hamster protein, called heteroglobin, as it is a heterodimeric glycoprotein with two isoforms, whose expression in glands and saliva demonstrate heterogeneity. The second objective is to clone the two cDNAs for the large glycosylated subunit corresponding to each of the two isoforms. Moreover, heteroglobin has the ability to join the specific IgE antigen present in the serum of patients allergic to hamsters, with the third object of this invention being the use of this protein as an easily obtained pure material for use in the manufacture of diagnostic products and for the prevention and reduction of symptoms in hamster allergy-related processes.The hamster protein cloned to reduce hamster allergy risk comprises heteroglobin, a hamster product of human immunoglobins. The heterodimeric glucoprotein has two iso-forms exhibiting heterogeneity in glands and saliva, with cloning of the two cDNAs.
