The invented atomization process of volatile compounds, particularly hydrides, elements determined for atomic absorption spectrometry in heated up tubular atomizers is characterized in that a plurality of miniature streams bring in atomization medium inside of the atomizer heated-up tube and in substantial portion of length thereof a selectable amount of oxygen, producing a plurality of clouds of hydrogen radicals in which free dying-off atoms of the element to be determined repeatedly atomize. The apparatus for making the invented process consists of a supply arm and an optical tube, where the whole optical tube (O) or at least central portion (C) thereof is formed by two concentric tubes, i.e. by an inner tube (1) and an outer tube (2), whereby the inner concentric tube (1) is provided with holes (3) distributed on side thereof and a cavity (4) being formed between both the concentric tubes (1, 2) is provided with at least one inlet (5).
