OF HIBRIDOMES PRODUCING HUMAN MONOCLONAL ANTIBODIES AGAINST A PRE-SELECTED ANTIGEN, FOR TRANSFECTING IMMUNE CELLS OF A MAMMALIAN WITH GENETIC MATERIAL, AND FOR THE TREATMENT OR PROPHYLAXIS OF A DISEASE OR CONDITION AND PROVISION OF PROCESSES CAUSED BY A PROVISION CAUSED BY A PROCESS RESULTED BY A , stimulate, block and reduce a mammal's immune response to an antigen, using an implantable device that exposes the antigen in a controlled manner to cells of the immune system. The device comprises a porous matrix contained within a perforated, impermeable container. By manipulating the antigen bioavailability within the device, and by timing the introduction of the antigen into the device relative to the implantation time of the device into the mammal, a robust and long-term response against an antigen, or an immune response, can be induced. existing or potential can be downwardly regulated or blocked. The processes and devices can be used for therapeutic vaccination, and in non-exposed mammals for prophylactic vaccination. Immunity can be cellular, humoral or mucous.
