If any element of an image producing equipment (1) is outside it's operating limits a fault report is transmitted (18) to a monitoring center (200) using a public telephone network (17) which also connects a service center (210). The report is received, stored and displayed (201n) and a Local Area Network is used to connect in a file server (204), memory (203) and printer (205). Account is kept of the time outstanding on each fault report.
