Central hot water supply system has parallel pipes of different cross sections to the delivery points to deliver hot water according to the magnitude of the demand to reduce water losses and energy consumption
To reduce water losses, in a central hot water supply system, both pipes (3,9) act as feed pipes to the delivery points (10), according to the nature of the water drawing patterns at those points. Where there is a low water consumption rate, only the parallel pipe (9) with the smaller cross section is activated. The water heating station (1) is connected to the branch (5) to the water take-off pipes (6) by a main supply pipe (3). A valve (7) in the main supply pipe (3) is opened on a given pressure drop. At the water heating station (1), a parallel pipe (9) branches from the main supply pipe (3) through a barrier valve (8). The main supply pipe (3) has a larger cross section than the parallel pipe (9).
