An arrangement for spray-painting components/ finished articles, etc. with a water-based coating, includes at least a cooled catchment device (2,3) and a humidifier (4). To prevent the paint from drying out it is necessary to keep the temperature in the spray-booth below the dew-point of the coating material, and to keep the humidity high. A spray booth (1) uses a moving belt (2) as a catchment device, and has a trough (3) below the belt for receiving the recovered paint. The booth has an air humidifying nozzle (4) in the ceiling area, and is controlled to allow a film of condensation to form on the belt, which cools the surface and assists the collected over-spray paint to flow into the trough , and from there into a holding tank (5).The belt may alternatively be arranged vertically, with its bottom idler roll running in a cooling bath or against an intermediate transfer roll.
