The air conditioner has a return circuit, an expansion valve (6) in a heating circuit, and a second expansion valve (7) in a defrost circuit. In the heating circuit, a coolant collector is connected upstream of the first expansion valve and is connected via a line (9') to the second expansion valve. The second expansion valve is controlled by the pressure of the coolant, the first expansion valve being controlled by the overheating of the coolant.
