Flat, square dough portions are conveyed continuously to a conveyor with forming units (22). The four corners of each square lying flat on a forming unit are simultaneously lifted by four forming-grips (31) and pressed together. Envelopes (10) so formed, then pass to the delivery end (32) of the conveyor (25). An Independent claim is included for corresponding equipment making the pastries. Preferred features: The grips (31) rise and then converge, driven by cranks. Rotary cutters operating on another conveyor form the squares. They are automatically adjusted (26) on the forming unit. Completed envelopes are led off the conveyor on a slide (32).
