The mounting surface (1) for the book or document is designed with a flexible and adjustable fixing system (2), facilitating the positioning of the printed or illustrated material and preventing any slippage. Material is connected by the fixing system, and held securely on the mounting surface of the desk. The stops (4) hold the sides of the material e.g. book pages, in a desired position, and allow the turning over of pages. A lamp (5) is provided, adjustable to suit the eye level of the person handling the material.
