An animal house, particularly a bird nesting box, has a viewing window 30 produced from 'diacroic' layers of film which pass light only at a predetermined angle relative to the surface of the film. This film thereby enables the animal in the animal house to be viewed through the viewing window yet hinder sight of the viewer by the animal. The nesting box is assembled from a preformed blank (fig.1). An aperture (33,fig.5) is cut into the nesting box to allow the bird access to the box.
