The invention refers to a variety of flax (Linum usitatissimum L. ssp. eurasiaticum proles elongata Vav. et Ell) named Selena, which is obtained through the sexual hybridization of the Natasja variety with the Ks variety, followed by repeated individual selection, and is recommended to be cultivated in all the cultivation areas of this plant in the country. The plant has a total height of 85-100 cm and a technical length of 65-80 cm. Its stem does not have basal ramifications, it is straight and turns yellow when it attains full maturity. The leaves are light green and are positioned in a spiral configuration. The inflorescence is 13-15 cm long, is semi-erect, and its sepals have a middle-sized punctuation. The flowers are small, with blue petals and without a longitudinal fold, the style (at the base) and the staminal filaments (at the top) are blue, as well as the arteries. Its capsules are middle-sized, the porosity of the false partition walls is absent, the seeds are brown, and the weight for 1000 seeds is 4.8 - 5.2 g. It is a mid to late season variety, with a vegetation period of 105 - 110 days, which is also resistant to falling, late spring frosts and rust (Melampsora linii). The fiber content of the Selena variety is between 22 and 26 percent. Its average productions are of 7100 - 7500 kg of stems/ha, 1600 - 1700 kg of fibre/ha, and 850 - 1100 kg of seeds/ha.
