PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve resistance to weld crack and to raise toughness without deteriorating physical properties such as low thermal expansion property and mechanical property in an Fe-Ni invar alloy. ;SOLUTION: This Fe-Ni invar alloy consists of, by weight, 30-45% Ni, ≤0.0030% S, ≤0.0070% P, ≤0.0040% O, 0.006-0.030% Al, ≤0.0030% N, 0.0002-0.0005% B, at least one element selected from a group consisting of ≤0.010% Ca, ≤0.010% Mg, ≤0.10Ti, ≤0.20% Zr and the balance Fe with ineviable impurities, satisfies (S+1/50+1/2P)≤0.0045 and (Ca+2Mg+1.5Ti+0.8 Zr)/(S+20)≥1 and cleanliness is ≤0.025%, preferably ≤0.019%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
