PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a recognition result in a desired form without depending on a physical format of a slip. SOLUTION: A table sheet 3 in a table format comprising fields and records is adopted as a storage format of a recognition result from a slip. A frame information storing means 1 has frame information that defines a recognition object area for image information of the slip, a character recognizing means 2 recognizes character information in the recognition object area that is defined by the frame information for the image information and an accumulating means 4 accumulates information that is recognized by the character recognizing means as a record according to the correspondence definition of the recognition object area and a field of the sheet 3. An area editing means 5 designates the recognition object area in a programmable way, and a field editing means 6 varies the correspondence of the recognition object area to a field on the sheet 3.
