FIELD: radiation study of internal structure of object. SUBSTANCE: decreased level of radiation action on object in process of study and provision for effective isolation of variable component of rotary X-radiation with shaped cross- section that has passed through object are achieved by recording with detector operating under counting mode. Detector is consequently switched over to four individual counting channels so that each channel operates during quarter of each period of change of signal of detector. Summing of output signals of first and second, third and fourth, first and third, second and fourth counting channels is carried out for processing. Sum of output signals of third and fourth channels is subtracted from sum of output signals of first and second counting channels and sum of output signals of second and third counting channels is subtracted from sum of output signals of first and fourth counting channels. Amplitude of change of signal of detector is found by square root of sum of the square of obtained differences and phase of this change is determined by relation of these differences. Given procedure can be used to study periodic processes described by Poisson's sequence of pulses with time modulated intensity.
