PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an area-type X-ray detector which can efficiently reset photodiode, and an operating method for the area-type X-ray detector and a large area-type X-ray detector. ;SOLUTION: A large area-type solid X-ray detector 12 employs multiple cells 22 which include a photodiode 36 and are arranged in rows and columns. The photodiode 36 is charged, is discharged due to X-ray irradiation proportionally to its radiated dose, and is charged again, and the amount of irradiation is determined. By applying non-imaging scan after imaging scan, the photodiode 36 is rapidly scanned consistently such that effect of dark current is reduced and no ghost image exists. Scanning time of the non-imaging scan for restoring the charge is longer than that of the imaging scan. In order to reduce the non- imaging scanning time substantially, the photodiode 36 is recharged simultaneously with non-imaging scan.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
