PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance thermal efficiency and to reduce harmful components in emissions by varying the fundamental requirements for supplying fuel to a fuel-direct-injection internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: In a fuel-jet collision diffusion type internal combustion engine, a fuel injection nozzle 7 is formed into a multiple nozzle structure having equally spaced small angles, each jet axis is made to collide against a fuel collision part provided inside a cavity 4, a part of a colliding surface is formed into a shape having an inclined surface so that the deflection of jet incidence angle is reinforced, and the diffusion, penetration, and atomization properties of fuel spreading inside the combustion chamber are controlled by jet energy based on the correlation between the jet and the colliding surface so as to achieve formation of an air-fuel mixture and a combustion reaction which are suited for cylinder/cavity capacity.
