The plate (1) for trimming the sheet metal bodywork is made from plastics which is sensible to constraints and has a plane surface in its non constrained state. The plate comprises two positions (4,6) for fixing against the bodywork. These positions are separated by a distance (d) along a fixing axis (x1x2). There are two constraint compensation openings (14,16) interposed between the fixing positions, each being located near one of the positions. Near to the fixing positions are ribs (22,24,26,28) located between the position and the opening near to it. The ribs are elongated and perpendicular to the fixing axis. There is a supplementary opening (18,20) for the compensation of constraints to which the plate is susceptible. This opening is located near one of the fixing positions such that the position is framed by the openings.
