PURPOSE: To obtain the subject cosmetic safe to the human body, containing, as quality stabilizer, a combination of each specified amount of an N-coconut oil fatty acid acyl-L-arginylethyl-DL-pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid and hinokitiol. ;CONSTITUTION: This cosmetic contains, as quality stabilizer, a combination of 0.01-0.05wt.% of an N-coconut oil fatty acid acyl-arginylethyl-DL- pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid (salt) of the formula (RCO is a coconut oil fatty acid residue) and 0.001-0.05wt.% of hinokitiol, containing neither antioxidant nor antiseptic specified by the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law. The quality stabilizer does not induce skin chapping and inflammation, having antimicrobial capability. The compound of the formula is not only highly safe but also has a wide spectrum of high germicidal power, also being excellent in biodegradability. The hinokitiol can be extracted from evergreen trees such as hinoki, having antimicrobial capability. The above quality stabilizer is highly effective for preventing cosmetics from deterioration or putrefaction.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
