In the case of an arrangement for stabilising the wavelength of the light beam (5) emitted by a laser diode (2), especially in the case of a laser interferometer, having a regulator (20) for the operating current of the laser diode, which regulator (20) is controlled by a sensor arrangement (6 - 10, 13 - 15) which is sensitive to the instantaneous environmental conditions and operating parameters, an additional beam divider (6) is inserted in the laser beam (5) emitted by the laser diode (2), which beam divider (6) deflects a beam element (7) from the main beam to a measurement device which, for its part, has a diffraction grating (8) with associated focusing optics (10) for this beam element (7, 9) so that the position and/or size of a light spot, produced via the optics on a receiver (13, 14), are a function of the instantaneous wavelength, photoreceivers (13, 14) being provided for detecting deviations of the light spot from a desired position which is associated with the nominal wavelength, the output signals of which photoreceivers are possibly used as control signals for the regulator (20), after suitable conversion.
