PURPOSE: To make it possible to calculate a length of a wire tail part, by monitoring and measuring the length of the wire tail part accurately while a plurality of positions on a lengthwise axis of a bonding tool is monitored and detected, and resume a procedure for forming a next round bond or stop the bonder, by monitoring a parameter related to the wire-bonding after a second bond is formed. ;CONSTITUTION: In an automatic wire bonder, a monitoring device has a wire- bond monitoring system(WBMS) and a circuit. The monitoring device monitors a length of a wire tail part 17 after a second bond 19 is formed. The position on a lengthwise axis of a bonding tool 16 is detected, and the height of bonding on the second bond 19 is determined.
