PURPOSE: To constrain the local buckling of a steel pipe column by mounting a concrete-filled square steel pipe column on the upper and lower flanges of a steel framed beam laid on the steel pipe column to connect a T-shaped vertical diaphragm. ;CONSTITUTION: The vertical part piece of a T-shaped vertical diaphragm 2 is welded and connected to a column web plate 1A. Both end parts of the horizontal part piece crossed and welded to the vertical part piece end part are welded to a flange plate 1B by use of a backing strip. A steel pipe column 1 containing the diaphragm 2 and a steel framed beam 5 are mounted so that the upper flange 5a and lower flange are off-centered to the column axis. Concrete 9 is filled in the steel pipe column 1, and the eccentric connection between column and beam frequently used around the outer circumference of a building can be attained by the structure by the concrete-filled square steel pipe column 1 and the steel framed beam 5. The force by the earthquake- resisting force of the beam mounted eccentrically to the column 1 is surely transmitted, and the constraint of the filled concrete in capital and pedestal part areas and the constraining efficiency of local buckling of the steel pipe column 1 can be enhanced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
