A wort copper kettle, in which wort is boiled in the beer brewing process, is equipped with a vapour extractor pipe and a vapour compressor. During the heating up process the vapour clouds are extracted via the extractor pipe and released to the outside. When the wort is boiling the vapour extractor pipe is blocked and the vapours can be passed to the vapour compressor. The novelty is that the extractor pipe is blocked by a water trap (8) which is located within the steam extractor pipe (7) after the branch pipe (9), in the direction of vapour flow towards the compressor (10). The water (25) in the trap (8) is deposited by condensation.
