The pump (110) supplying fuel to the nozzles (105) of individual cylinders of the engine is fitted with a flowmeter (115) sending a feedback signal at two operating points defined by engine speed and load for comparison (125) with an expected value. The correction factors are established on a test bench after assembly of the metering device and stored in the memory of a control unit for correction of the output (US) or input (QK) of a pumping characteristic memory (135). ADVANTAGE - Adjustment and equalisation of fuel supply are simplified and automated with compensation of errors in region of pump and positioning shaft.
