Non-stationary flow fields are produced by transient or timewise periodical sources and depressions, the extent of which is observed by pore water pressure measurements. A permeability distribution is numerically reconstructed from these measurements together with the volume flow and pressure of source and depression. The non-stationary flow fields are produced, in that water through conduits or pipes of reasonable flexibility is pressed into the ground or sucked out of it. The input and/or suction of water at one or more points occurs simultaneously. The position for pressing into the ground or suction from it after prodn. and observation of a non-stationary flow recess is altered, in order to produce and observe new non-stationary flow fields with altered throughflow directions. USE - In tunnel construction and environmental protection.
